Avenir LNG conducted its first LNG ship-to-ship (STS) bunkering operation in Germany on May 5, the company announced on May 31.

The transfer of chilled fuel from the Avenir Aspiration to the RoPax ferry Nils Holgersson took place at the Port of Lubeck. This event marked a significant milestone, being the first STS LNG bunker operation in a German port. Previously, Avenir conducted an initial LNG and bio-LNG bunker operation using trucks in 2022.

Jan S., commercial director of LNG bunkering for Avenir, stated, “Utilising our fleet of five LNG bunker vessels, Avenir continues to ensure the security of supply for our customers globally. As part of that ambition, we are seeing our network of customers and ports continue to grow across Northwest Europe throughout 2024.”

For this operation, Avenir partnered with GasCom-Equipment, specialists in German LNG and bio-LNG distribution.
