Copenhagen Malmo Port (CMP) and biomethane company Green2x have formed a partnership to develop a biogas plant at CMP’s terminals in the port of Malmo, CMP said on May 15. This collaboration aims to ensure a renewable energy supply and promote sustainable maritime transport in the future.

Green2x utilises its patented technology to produce biogas from the straw left after harvesting.

The partnership will begin with a pilot study period, during which the project will be planned, and the necessary permits will be obtained. Following this phase, the facility's establishment will commence, with completion expected by 2030.

Green2x is developing its first plant in Vordingborg, Denmark, for which it recently obtained a permit. Production at this facility is slated to begin in 2027.
