Germany’s Man Energy Solutions (Man ES) will rejoin the SEA-LNG association, which supports the LNG bunkering industry, as announced by SEA-LNG on June 21.

Man ES, a provider of propulsion solutions for LNG marine applications, caters to the demands of the shipping industry for LNG propulsion and equipment. This includes dual-fuel LNG-powered ships, LNG carriers, floating storage and regasification units, LNG feeder and bunker vessels, as well as gas supply infrastructure.

Peter Keller, SEA-LNG chairman, stated, “The LNG solution is playing a critical role in enabling emissions reductions, starting today. If we want to continue to unlock this pathway’s potential, we need the right expertise, and Man ES’s experience and insights will be critical to ensuring LNG, biomethane, and e-methane firmly take their place in the basket of alternative marine fuels.”

According to SEA-LNG, the entire LNG pathway to decarbonisation benefits from the ability to use existing infrastructure, including LNG engines currently in use, without any major retrofits. Liquefied biomethane and renewable hydrogen-derived e-methane can be used as drop-in fuels in all current and future LNG-fuelled engines with minimal, if any, modifications. As a result, LNG offers a highly efficient, low-risk, and known-cost pathway to a zero-emissions future for the maritime sector.

The SEA-LNG association is a global non-profit organisation that promotes the use of LNG as a marine fuel. The association has over 100 members, including energy companies, shipbuilders, engine manufacturers, and port operators.
