Malaysian waste management company Tex Cycle Technology, in partnership with biogas company Green Lagoon Technology, has commenced operations at their 3.5 MW BP Power biogas-fuelled power plant in Johor, Tex Cycle announced on June 20.

This facility converts palm oil mill effluent into biogas, reducing environmental waste and providing a sustainable energy source. According to Tex Cycle, the centralised nature of the plant allows for more efficient management and greater scalability, setting the stage for future expansions and innovations in renewable energy.

Since April, the plant has contributed over 1.6mn kilowatt-hours to the national grid. Tex Cycle acquired the stake in the biogas power plant from Green Lagoon in July 2022.
