Paris-based infrastructure asset manager Vauban Infrastructure Partners, through its infrastructure funds, has completed the acquisition of a majority stake in the Wijster biomethane plant in the Netherlands from Green Create, Vauban announced on 1 July.

The Wijster plant is one of Europe’s largest biomethane production facilities, with a current installed capacity of 237 GWh/year, which is injected into the Dutch grid. This anaerobic digestion plant primarily processes poultry manure but is also capable of operating with diversified feedstock such as organic waste.

Operating since 2022, the Wijster plant is set for two planned expansions, which will increase its total capacity to approximately 554 GWh/year. The financial details of the deal were not disclosed.

Green Create is an integrated biological waste-to-value business, specialising in build, own and operate solutions. It focus on sustainable agricultural and industrial waste treatment.
